More than 100 locally-designed garments would be showcased in a three-part fashion show at the Project Jejemon Fashion and Design Awards this Saturday.

The event will begin with a Superhero- inspired evening with 24 models flaunting the locally designed garments at The Tent, at Carnarvon Street outside the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation building.

Project co-ordinator and presenter Andhy Blake says he is extremely excited as he is trying all avenues to get the world’s eyes to Fiji’s fashion industry.

“We will have some of Fiji’s established designers showcasing their collections from their 2015 resort line,” he said.

“A total of 24 models and 15 designers will be part of the inaugural Project Jejemon Fashion and Design Awards with Salon 21 specifically-created make-up and hair-looks for the evening inspired by trends in New York.

AWARD CATEGORIES:

  • Ethnic category award;
  • Vai Wai water evening gown category award;
  • Rubenesque category award;
  • Vai Wai Water 3 piece collection category award;
  • Style Magazine street wear award;
  • S Nagindas menswear category award;
  • Vai Wai Water resort wear category award; and
  • Style Magazine Fantasy/Recycle Category Award

 

The designers would be Hupfeld Hoerder, Moira Solvalu John, Aisea Konrote, Ana Rabuka and Couture collections from Ilai Jikoiono, Azza and Anton Conway Wye.

“We will also have Rosie Semisi who’s making a comeback to the catwalk with a collection designed exclusively for the Project Jejemon catwalk and will feature some of her best work to date,” Mr Blake said.

There would be some breakout designers who would be showcasing their pieces in the evening and these include Sidhant Maharaj, Preshika Ashweni, Akansha, Bruni Olusoga, S & M and 2nd Chance Boys.

“We also have Shawn Coalala and his Drua label who will showcase an exclusive Men’s wear range.”

This would be presented before the Project Jejemon Model and Designer of the Year with Fiji Airways.

Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Siddiq Koya will be the chief guest for the evening.
