School managers in the Northern Division have been praised for their good work.

Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy made the positive comments when he opened the Northern School Management Association meeting at Fiji National University campus in Labasa yesterday.

The newly-formed association welcomed teachers from as far as Taveuni, Rabi and Savusavu.

Mr Reddy thanked school managers for improving the learning environment of students.

“The school management plays a very important and critical role, you are owners of the infrastructure and it’s called a school because of the Education Act which allows students to come to a particular place,” Mr Reddy said.

Mr Reddy said the Government provided the operating grant to schools to help develop the students to full potential.

Meanwhile, the conference also provided an opportunity for the association to strengthen their relationship with the ministry and jointly agree on certain developments issues that will reap benefits to the education sector.
