Carnival Time For All In Cuvu

Cuvu in Nadroga will be a hive of activity as the first reunion for the Cuvu College is all set to kick-off this weekend in a carnival atmosphere.

The two-day event will be held at the college grounds from Saturday and Sunday. It will attract hundreds of current and former students and teachers who are based in Fiji and abroad.

“The purpose of this reunion is to provide an opportunity for the ex and present students and teachers of Cuvu College to renew those extraordinary and special relationships that we developed so long ago,” event co-ordinator Kulsum Nisha said.

Nisha who is based in Sydney, Australia finished her seventh form education at Cuvu College in 1992. She said close to four-hundred former students and teachers now living overseas will be part of the historic celebrations.

“The event is held at the college grounds so that the local community could be involved. The college is like a family and we think that the carnival will get the community together giving us all the opportunity to mingle. We want to give back something to our community that has given us so much more,” Ms Nisha added.

“This event aims to encourage students (us) to spread what we have learnt at our school around the world, the excellence, honesty, friendship, equality and wisdom.

“No matter where we are and what we do, our college life encourages us to live our life with purpose and to take responsibility for our community positively.

“The idea behind this reunion is that the students (former or present) are responsible for organising the event in their school. This reunion will help foster a sense of community and have positively increased the schools’ profile in the community. We are enthusiastic and want to bring a positive and affirming message to our fellow students, staff and the community,” Ms Nisha said.

She said this reunion would provide an excellent opportunity for all those connected to the college to travel down the memory lane and to renew friendships.

She said the theme of the event was, “Renewal of friendship and fun time.”
