The new more than $2 million three-storey headquarters for two key industry bodies is taking shape in Suva’s Gorrie Street. It is expected to open by early December.

The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) and Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA) have partnered in developing their headquarters.

FHTA president Dixon Seeto said: “Given some of the current weather; we envisage probably by next month the building will be completed.

“Then the outfitting of the building will take another couple of months. So before Christmas we can expect the building to be fully completely and occupied.”

Mr Seeto explained this was a joint effort between the FCEF and FHTA and there will be common facilities.

“This will include boardrooms and training rooms, office space for our members to use those that will be coming into Suva and they need a base to work from.”

He added it will be a wonderful building, very functional and there is also some space that they will be able to rent out.

Federation chief executive, Nesbitt Hazelman, said: “It is a building that all employers whether you are my members or not, you can be proud of.

“We will have not only our offices but we can boast that employers have a new home.

“It shows that employers in this country have faith in Fiji’s economy and have invested considerably,” he added.
