UN Expatriate In Fatal Accident

An expatriate has become the latest fatality on Fijian roads after he was involved in a fatal accident yesterday.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirming this said: “there was a fatal involving an expatriate who worked as an advisor to with the United Nations Development Programme.”

The accident is believed to have happened near Drasa Flats, Kings Road at around 7.30am yesterday.

Ms Naisoro confirmed that the victim was cycling towards Rakiraki, when he was allegedly hit by a vehicle which tried to overtake a cane truck.

He was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are once again urging drivers to take necessary precautions while on the road especially with the cane crushing season.

Investigations in the accident continue as Police await the vehicle examiners report and post mortem results..
