A high school student’s dream of studying abroad came true yesterday after he was presented with air tickets to study for three years in India.

Shivam Gounder, 18, a Year 13 student of Labasa Sangam College was given a three-year scholarship to study Bachelor in Commerce at the Bangalore University in India.

Mr Gounder was among the four students who were presented air tickets by the Indian Cultural Centre to study in India.

“I am happy and excited about this chance. I first saw the advertisement in the Fiji Sun before applying online,” Gounder said.

“I hope to do all these for my parents because my dad is a taxi driver and my mother stays home. I have always wanted to one day study abroad.

“Today, I finally have the chance and I’m ready.”

He plans to become an accountant.
