Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana has declared Fiji’s interest in hosting the 2023 Pacific Games.

Delana said the discussion was made during the Oceania Sports Ministers meeting last week.

“The main discussion of the meeting was how we can maintain and strengthen our relationship in the region. This was stressed by PNG Sports Minister Justin Tkatchenko.

“We made our intention clear that we are ready to host the future Pacific Games,” Delana said.

Pacific Games Council CEO Andrew Minogue has earlier stated that the annual general meeting will be held on Sunday at Holiday Inn Port Moresby.

“We will be having our AGM and five minutes will be given for the country of interest to bid for the 2023 Games,” Minogue said.

Meanwhile, the second contingent of Tean Fiji arrived into Port Moresby yesterday.

Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic president Joseph Rodan Senior calls for support from people back home.

“We are here to do Fiji proud and nothing else.

“We are looking forward to win more gold medals for Fiji,” Rodan said.
