Former Vice President, former school teacher and former national rugby rep and I taukei Naua, the late Ratu Jope Naucabalavu Seniloli will be buried at Taro, Bau, Tailevu today.

Taro is the chiefly family’s burial ground.

This was confirmed by Adi Litia Cakobau.

“I have confirmed my attendace at the funeral service at Bau tomorrow (today) and Ratu Jope will be laid to rest at Taro,” Adi Litia said.

She said her younger brother, Ratu George Kadavulevu Cakobau (Junior), would not attend the funeral because he was at Welagi, Taveuni.

Speaking from Welagi yesterday, Ratu George confirmed the Seniloli burial ground is at Taro.

“The first Seniloli to be buried at Taro was Ratu Henry Seniloli, he said.”

He was followed by Ratu Manasa and Ratu Inoke and now Ratu Jope, he said.

Ratu George was invited to Welagi to open their annual 7s rugby tournament.

The Roko Tui Tailevu, Semisi Saukawa said his office had received confirmation that the funeral service would be at the Bau Church, Bau, at 10am.

“After the service, the funeral will be at Taro,” Mr Saukawa said.

The service will be conducted by the general secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji, Reverend Dr Epineri Vakadewavosa, said Church spokesperson, Rev James Bhagwan.

He said Church president, Rev Tevita Nawadra was out of the country.

 

His life

Ratu Jope had been described by those who were close to him as a good and fearless leader.

Meanwhile, delegates presenting their I reguregu continued at Bau Island yesterday.
