“It was a tough competition but I kept on telling myself to stay focused and do my country proud.
“We just bought this pistol guns in May and we had limited time to prepare but thank my team for all the effort they have put in,” Khan said.
The 25-year-old said the plan now was to involve more females in the sport.
“We need to develop the sport in Fiji,” he added.
The former Labasa College student, who started playing the sport in 2010, acknowledged his family.
“I want to thank my family back in Fiji and in Australia for their support.”
Team manager Henry Stephen said this was a huge achievement for Fiji.
“This gold medal is a huge achievement for us and hopefully we take this sport to schools back in Fiji.
“ We want to thank the Republic of Fiji Military Forces for their support and Williams and Goslings,” Stephen said.
