Ryan Happy With Effort

Fijian national 7s coach Ben Ryan says the 2015 Pacific Games brings a lot of unique experience for him.
“I have been to the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and World Cup, but this one is a unique experience for me,” he said.
“I’m enjoying the environment so far,” Ryan said.
The Fijian national side had a slow start in their opening game against hosts Papua New Guinea as they struggled to win 17-0
Savenaca Rawaca scored the opening try for Fiji in the first half, which gave them the 5-0 lead at halftime. Jasa Veremalua and Atunaisa Abele scored a try each in the second half to win at full-time.
“It was nice to come through and we had three pool games,” Ryan said.
Ryan was impressed with the players’ performance on and off the field.
“Even though there are a lot of distractions in the Games Village, but the boys have been very professional.
“Nice to be part of Team Fiji and have a bit of talanoa (discussions) with the athletes,” Ryan added.
Meanwhile, the Fijiana side lost their first game to favourites Australia 0-26 in their first match, before defeating Samoa.
