More than 100 students of Veiuto Primary School in Suva toured the Fiji Sun headquarters at Walu Bay, Suva yesterday.

The trip is part of the school’s Year Two Social Studies curriculum where they study about newspapers.

Year Two teacher Mereani Waqavesi said the trip was an eye-opener for the students.

“We brought them here to the factory to see for themselves how the newspapers are produced. Some of these students understand things better when they see it instead of just reading about it when they are taught,” Ms Waqavesi said.

The students also visited the Fiji Museum, the Naval Base in Walu Bay, the Police Dog Unit and the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation.

Year Two student Benjamin Soko said he was excited about the trip and enjoyed it.

“I really like this trip because now I know how a newspaper is put together. And also my uncle Osea Kolinisau of the Fiji 7’s team is always pictured on the paper and I have always told myself that one day I will be in the papers as well and I’m glad I’m able to see where his pictures are always printed,” he said.

The students also received Rewa yoghurt and Galaxy Milk from Rewa Dairy together with Fiji Sun paper hats.
