Fiji TV To Launch Fiji Two Channel

The introduction of a digital platform will see Fiji Television Limited launch its new Fiji Two channel.
Fiji Television board director, Nouzab Fareed, said they were appreciative of the Government as they had given them another channel to operate.
“We can’t launch it now as it has to come with the digital platform,” he said.
“Fiji Two is a much more appealing content, more entertainment-orientated,” he said.
“Definitely we want to give the audience something worthwhile for them to go home and watch.
“So you will be seeing some excitement on that channel. When the time is right, we will announce what the content will be.
“So we are much excited to launch that channel. We are looking forward to the digital platform and I am sure government will be launching that very soon – perhaps next few weeks.”
Just two weeks ago, Government gave Fiji Television a 12-year Television Broadcast licence.
Financial Year
With the financial year ended June 30, 2015, Mr Fareed announced Fiji Television Limited had performed exceptionally well in the past few months.
This was under the leadership of recently-appointed chief executive, Geoffrey Smith, who had been acting CEO from December the past year.
“Geoffrey Smith and his team have done extremely well,” he said.
“Last year if you can remember Fiji TV made a loss in 2014 and in 2015, unaudited we are very happy that we are above breakeven.”
Mr Fareed said they are not sure whether they will get any dividends from Media Niugini this year, but he said if they do, definitely they want to declare a dividend when the time is right.
