Referee Kaveni Talemaivalagi aims to pass the test at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

Rugby referees in the Oceania region are currently undergoing thorough assessment by World Rugby on how well they can handle controlling their own teams. The Lau native was given the honours to control the Fiji-Tahiti game at Sir John Guise Stadium yesterday while World Rugby referee performance reviewers had a close watch.

“I’m a level three accredited referee and this is a big challenge for me being tested on how we judge our home team games,” Talemaivalagi said.

“I’m always ready for the challenge and sky is the limit for me.”

A teacher by profession, he already took part in the World Sevens Series and his first international 15s assignment was the Junior World Rugby Trophy in Hong Kong last year.
