After a lapse of four years, Vodafone Flying Fijians fullback Kini Murimurivalu will wear the white jersey again, when Fiji take on the Maori All Blacks tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

The 26-year-old, who hails from the village of Lami in the province of Rewa, last played for Fiji in the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand.

Murimurivalu is excited about being in the team again. “It has been four long years since I last played for Fiji and I just want to thank the Lord for bringing me back here,” he said. “I have had a series of injuries but it’s great to be back and in shape and playing again. I am really excited and looking forward to our first test match against the Maori All Blacks. I have worked and trained really hard and I am looking forward to Saturday (tomorrow).”

With the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England just around the corner, Murimurivalu said every test match was a build-up to that goal and a chance to secure a spot in the final squad to the World Cup.

“This is a very important for the team as a whole because this will decide how we build up going forward to the World Cup,” he said. “I need to work hard because my position in the team isn’t set in stone, so this is a good platform to prove what I can do.”

This will be the first time in seven years that the two sides have met, since playing for the first time in 1938 in Fiji.

Murimurivalu remains reserved about his anticipation for the game tomorrow and will do the talking on the field.

“Everyone is looking forward to the game, but we will see what happens come Saturday (tomorrow). I don’t really want to say anything now and prefer we leave it to the outcome.”

Fiji will play the Maori All Blacks tomorrow at 3pm at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.
