Black Economy In Spotlight

The talk about black economy in Parliament has some members thinking in a trade union.
One member tried to deposit some savings in a credit union account but was refused. He had heard that some members had done it before.
The credit union account is apparently not subjected to the same rigid tax scrutiny as personal bank accounts.
So it is said to have become a tax haven for some who find that they get maximum return for investment when they choose to retire.
Level playing field history
So this wannabe media commentator now writes in the other newspaper that there should be a level playing field for the Fiji Times.
So where was he all those years when the then foreign owned and supported Fiji Times totally dominated the Fijian media scene?
When the Fiji Times were making many millions of dollars while other media companies struggled? When the Fiji Times and their pampered staff would have been very happy to see the Fiji Sun not rise?
Oh, that’s right. He was writing for the Fiji Times.
Let’s face it, no changes
Opposition member Salote Radrodro is aggrieved that in response to her written question on breakdown of recipients of the student loan scheme she was not provided any breakdown according to race.
She took to her Facebook to crib about this but sadly no discussion took place regarding what areas scholarships should be given in. Will some never learn?
