Nadro Ends Nadi Run

The Nemani Nagusa-captained BLK Nadroga side has ended Jack’s Nadi unbeaten run in the Skipper Cup with a close 17-15 win at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.
What happened: The Stallions came out firing from the first play.Nadi forwards were penalised and first five-eighth Alivereti Veitokoni kicked a penalty to lead 3-0.
Minutes later referee Lote Sadrau sin-binned winger Sakiusa Nakalevu for tackling a player without the ball.
Picking up from the blunder fullback Setareki Tuicuvu was in dazzling form resulting in a try.
Centre Cyrill Reece converted to lead 3-7.
Nadroga with the services of experienced forwards such as Sekonaia Kalou, Waisea Daveta, Alivereti Bure, and Ilaisa Leca proved handy allowing Nagusa to score from a pushover try which was converted by Veitokoni.
Halftime: Nadroga 10 – 7 Nadi
In the second spell the home side started well with Reece kicking a penalty for the teams to draw 10-10.
Not so long Nadroga pulled another try through Maikeli Toga as he forced his way over Nadi backline players to score and was converted by Veitokoni 17-10.
Big play: lock Sekonaia Kalou was instrumental in the line-outs.
Star turn: Veitokani was on target with his kicking.

Nadroga manager Ilavi Kato said: “We thank Nadi as they gave us good game. It was a tough match but then again both teams always give out the best. We are glad to overcome Nadi as we build up towards the Farebrother.”
Nadi manager Jeff Tamata said: “It was good match as expected Nadroga came out firing. Our boys played well but there are a lot of areas we need to improve on.”
