First five-eighth Viliame Tuidraki saved the day for Ratu Navula College at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

He kicked a penalty at fulltime in their 15-12 win over at Cuvu College in the final of the Western Secondary School Rugby Union Coke Zero Under- 18 yesterday.

Despite only resuming training last Thursday, the Nadi school managed to lead 12-5 in the first-half.

With five minutes remaining, both teams were locked 12-12 with a try from Cuvu College.

“The competition has gone up another level,” Western Schools Rugby Union president Jiutasa Mocesui said. “This is also the first time we merged three zones to compete under one umbrella

“From next year we will work with the three rugby unions Nadroga, Nadi and Lautoka to stage our competition in line as curtain-raisers to the Skipper Cup competition.”

In the U19 grade, prop Saula Tunidau was instrumental in Ra High beating Sigatoka Andhra 8-3 in an epic battle.

In the U17 category, defending champions Natabua High edged impressive Ratu Navula 19-18 in an exciting clash.

Giant killers Cuvu College created history to be crowned the new U16 winner beating Ratu Navula 22-19 while U15 defending champions Natabua High retained the title with the 19-7 over rivals Ratu Navula College.
