The Shavneel Deo-captained Lautoka Youth side won their first match of the Rewa Galaxy Youth League at Prince Charles Park in Nadi yesterday.

What Happened: The side put up a gallant performance to come from behind to beat Nadroga Youth 2-1.

Shavneel Deo was impressive scoring the first goal in the 35th minute beating goalkeeper Zaheen Mohammed.

Nadroga striker Jona Matakorovatu missed four chances at goal.

Halftime: Lautoka Youth 1- 0 Nadroga.

Nadroga came back firing in the second spell and was awarded a goal in the 51st minute with the free kick from midfield Don Raj.

Both teams were locked 1-1 before Emmanuel Prakash sealed the win for Lautoka

Star turn: Nadroga goalkeeper Zaheen Mohammed played well.

Big play: Shavneel Deo and Zainal Hussein played well and had two goals to their names.

Comments: Lautoka Youth coach Sunil Naidu said, “We managed to pull through in the second spell and we need extra hard in training.”

Nadroga Youth coach Ramesh Sharma said, “This is team I had to look and assemble picking some of them from a bazaar tournament. I’m very happy with the performance.”
