Our national Under-23 football team is going to the Rio Olympics next year.

Last night they beat Vanuatu 4-3 on sudden death penalties in the Oceania qualifying final.

A dramatic final capped a day of drama in Port Moresby in which New Zealand were disqualified and Vanuatu elevated to the final.

The winning penalties came from Tomasi Tuivuna, Kolinio Sivoki, Iosefo Verevou and Jale Dreloa.

The teams were locked 0-0 after extra time in a see-sawing final.

Full reaction and photos in tomorrow’s edition.
