Team Kata Win Gold

Team Kata won gold in the 2015 Pacific Games day one of the Karate competition yesterday.
The team consists of Naomi Bakani, Adi Kidia Drodrolagi and Kalei Seniloli finished ahead of New Caledonia and hosts Papua New Guinea.
Bakani grabbed her first medal in the female individual kata where she won silver behind favorite Mondoloni Angelique of New Caledonia who won gold and Vassy Mata Lango of Vanuatu alongside PNG Elizabeth Mari won bronze.
“Two medals, one gold and silver I feel very happy,” Bakani said.
“I want to dedicate the achievement to my coach and my families back at home for their support,” Bakani said.
Seniloli, who is taking part in her first Pacific Games is grateful.
“My aim was to get that gold medal that was what we have been working for and I thank my family for their support,” Seniloli said.
In the male individual kata event Fiji’s Anthony Yam won silver, Duc Minh Dack of New Caledonia won gold and Lucas Noa of Tahiti won bronze.
In the male Kata event, the team consists of James Lenoa, Pita Lenoa and Tevita Tamanigaunatawamudu won silver. New Caledonia won gold and PNG bronze.
