Cane Crushing Update

239, 905 tonnes of cane was crushed from the four sugar mills since the beginning of crushing of the crushing season.

This announcement was made by the executive chairman, Abdul Khan.

Mr Khan said: “As at 4 pm on Monday 13 July, the mills have collectively crushed a total of 239, 905 tonnes of cane and made 24, 701 tonnes of sugar.”

 

Hurdles

Mr Khan explained there was some teething problems however as of yesterday the mills are settling down.

He said that except for Lautoka Mill, cane supply has been consistent at the mills.

Mr Khan has called on the farmers to take advantage of good crushing operations and the excellent weather conditions to bring cane to the mills.

On the marketing front, Mr Khan said: “On Saturday July 11, 32,500 tonnes of sugar from last season’s production was loaded on the ‘Crimson Princess’ destined for Tale and Lyle, London.”

The value of the shipment was approximately USD 10.725 million.
