Fixing Set Pieces

Vodafone Flying Fijians flanker  Malakai Ravulo has revealed set pieces as a key area needing improvement.

Looking towards this Saturday’s game with the Ikale Tahi, the 31-year-old said this was a focus for the forwards preparing for the 2015 World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup opener.

“We need to improve on our set pieces because that is what’s messing us up,”Ravulo said.

“We need to learn from last weekend’s game, against the Maori All Blacks and we need to do a better job.”

Sizing up the competition, Ravulo believed the forwards would have to really step up their game to counter the strong Tongan pack.

“Tonga is a very physical side. They’re big, they’re strong and we need to match them upfront.”

Ravulo started his professional rugby career in 2008 when he signed on to join New Zealand provincial team North Harbour for the ITM Cup.

He joined Farul Constanta Rugby Club in Romania last year.

Ravulo made his debut in the Fijian jumper when he was selected to be part of the November 2010 Northern tour.

The Flying Fijians-Ikale Tahi match kicks off at 3pm.
