Lomaiviti 2017 Budget Passed

The Lomaiviti Provincial Council passed its 2017 Budget yesterday at its meeting in Levuka, Ovalau.

The iTaukei Affairs Board (TAB) media liaison officer, Alipate Natoba, confirmed this to the Fiji Sun from Levuka.

“The 2017 budget is $375,578,” he said.

Mr Natoba said the council, also looked at the proposal of the staff and finance committee chairman Aseri Tokalaulevu.

Mr Tokalaulevu asked members to provide the council staff with the best of facilities so that they could produce good services.

Delegates were told that by 2017 the Lomaiviti Provincial Council would be free of debt. However, all district representatives (mata ni tikina) were asked to remind their district members the importance of the provincial levy (soli ni yasana).

The provincial administrator Elimi Rokoduru in the presence of the Commissioner Eastern, Luke Moroivalu, made a presentation on Government developments in the province.

The iTaukei Affairs Permanent Secretary, Savenaca Kaunisela, also made a presentation on the work of the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs.

The meeting continues today.
