Luveni Continues North school tour

We were very fortunate that the Honourable Speaker to Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni had travelled from Suva  to meet us, said school teacher Neli Nadavobalavu.

The Naikavaki College’s head of technical section recalled that during her school days, no Speaker to Parliament travelled on education tours around Fiji.

Dr Luveni was at Naikavaki College in Bua yesterday for her second ‘Meet the Speaker’ programme.

Dr Luveni clearly explained her role as Speaker and also the role of Parliament to the 195 students and 19 teachers of Naikavaki College.

School principal Hemant Kumar said they were blessed to have the Speaker visit and looked forward to more of these visits.

School headgirl Archana Pratap said they were really fortunate as Naikavaki College was chosen out of all the schools in the Bua Province.

“We were really fortunate to have Honourable Speaker at our school and to see her in person. We have learned a lot of things about Parliament,” she said.

“The Honourable Speaker was an inspiration for us and she taught us many lessons,” Archana said.

Year 12 student William Thomas said he was happy to see Dr Luveni face-to-face and hoped that the students would take heed of her advice.
