The proceedings in the re-zoning of Shirley Park proceedings was yesterday given another court date in Lautoka.

This is the case where the Reddy Group of Companies and others through their lawyer Aman Singh have filed against the director of Town and Country Planning through the Attorney-General’s Office at the High Court in Lautoka.

Judge Justice Suseela Sapuvida has written down July 21 as a suitable date to further this case with a possibility of ruling on the matter.

Mr Singh had sought clarity with the judge on the previously issued date for the case as July 17 and the Justice Sapuvida has vacated it.

This is an on-going matter which has been brought into court and the final decision from the court is now awaited.

Earlier this year the Lautoka City Council held a public consultation where they heard the views and opinions of many on the issue of the Shirley Park redevelopment.

Following the consultation, Shirley Park was rezoned as a special tourism zone which meant development could take place.

The court shall now await July 21 to hear out the case before proceeding further with a ruling.
