Chief Justice Anthony Gates has directed the suspended parliamentarian Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu’s legal team to sort out the nature of their case.

This was after Ratu Naiqama’s lawyer Simione Valenitabua tried to file another matter for a constitutional redress yesterday afternoon before Justice Gates.

Mr Valenitabua originally made an application challenging the Speaker, Dr Jiko Luveni’s decision to suspend Ratu Naiqama for two years from parliament.

Mr Valenitabua said they were thinking of consolidating both files, however, they needed some time.

Solicitor-General Sharvada Sharma, for the defendant, said he was surprised that the plaintiff was still trying to figure out his course of action and wasting the court’s time.

Mr Sharma told the court today that they had filed a strike- out application on the original application.

He said he was disappointed that a second application was being filed.

He said they would continue to argue their strike-out application when everything was filed.

The matter has been adjourned to July 30th for mention.
