Prasad, Kalouniviti Win Medals

Rajendra Prasad won Fiji athletics fourth gold medal in Day Four of the track and field events in the 2015 Pacific Games at Sir John Guise stadium yesterday.
It was a battle between Prasad and New Caledonia Ogun Robert who had a tie after a 2.03m jump but Robert had the advantage because of clearing the bar in the first attempt at 2.03m.
It was then decided by technical officials and was agreed by the two jumpers to battle for 2.06m but both failed to clear the bar after their three attempts.
Officials then decided to drop the bar at 2.04m but in each of their three attempts Prasad and his counterpart Ogun again failed to clear.
The final decision was made to drop the bar further to 2.02m New Caledonia failed to clear in his first first attempt but Prasad allowed his Fijian supporters to erupt from their seats as he cleared the bar successfully at 2.02m to win gold for Fiji.
“This feels awesome, we just worked on techniques and I have won,” Prasad said.
Kalouniviti scoops bronze medal
Sailasa Kalouniviti in his first Pacific Games won a bronze medal after setting his best in 1.97m.
The jubilant Kalouniviti said, “Winning this bronze medal is like winning gold and I’m happy.”
