Gearing Up For England Trip

Cricket Fiji named an extended squad yesterday to the ICC World Cricket League Division 6 in Essex, England in September.
Coach Shane Jurgensen was happy with the preparations.
“Now the focus is really refining our skills towards adapting to conditions in England and the teams that we will be coming across,” Jurgensen said.
“So far the boys have completed their seven weeks of training and now we are concentrating on fitness and getting physically strong.
“It’s a pretty intense tournament playing up to five games in seven days. So that’s why fitness is a major area which we will be focusing on.
“From that we will be focusing on our batting and bowling which still needs a bit of work.”
With four overseas-based players included in the squad, Rabici Lesuma, Imran Kham, Jack Smith, Karan and Kunaal Kumar, Jurgensen said the tournament in important to them if they want to move up to Division 5.
“This is really important for us and if we can have a really successful tournament then we might move into World Cricket League 5,” he said. “That will give us some really important confidence next year.”
The 18 member squad will be reduced to 14 on August 5 which will be the team that represents Fiji at the ICC World Cricket League.
The 18-member squad includes Giles Smith, Metuisela Beitaki, Viliame Yabaki, Josefa Rika, Rabici Lesuma, Sekove Ravoka, Karan Kumar, Makutu Seru, Ruyad Khan, Jone Wesele, Josaia Baleicikobia, Imran Kham, Jikoi Kidaivanualevu, Sakuisa Dokosobau, Peni Volavola, Jack Smith and Kunaal Kumar.
