The Fiji beach volleyball men’s team will meet Papua New Guinea in the final today.

Waisale Suka and Waisake Raratabu defeated Tonga in two straight sets( 21-18) (23-21) in the semifinal.

Team captain Waisale Suka said it would feel good to beat PNG in front of their home crowd.

“It was teamwork that brought us this far, it was a tough game against Tonga but we pulled through.

“We are meeting PNG in the final and the crowd will not be a worry to us because we have done this before at the 2011 Pacific Games in Noumea,” Suka said.

Meanwhile, Suka with his superb performance yesterday won the hearts of many children who have started to call on Suka as their favourite player.

Jimmy Hgui, 9, from East Sepik Province said he would be cheering on Suka during the final today.

“Waisale Suka is my favourite player because he is good sportsman,” Hgui said.

Fiji and PNG plays at 3pm (Fiji time) today.
