The Parliament’s Civic Education programme in Vanua Levu has been praised for reaching rural communities.

Napuka Secondary School principal Suluo Draunimasi welcomed the parliamentary education team to his school on Thursday, saying it made up for missing a visit to Parliament earlier in the year.

“A group of students were supposed to visit Parliament after the Coca-Cola Games, but because of financial constraints, the students were not able to make it,” Mr Draunimasi said.

He said the students and teachers were excited when they found out that the team would come to the school.

He also thanked the team for showing the videos of parliamentarians because they were expecting some of them to visit later in the year.

“The visit was very informative, especially for the social science students, as they have a topic on Parliament,” Mr Draunimasi said.

Year 13 student Anaroko Sigayau said she learned new things about Parliament, especially about the role of the Speaker. The Parlaiment Civic Education team will be at Savusavu Town today from 9am to 3.30pm.
