Staff members of Life Cinema in Martinitar, Nadi, were all decked in colourful Muslim attire while they served the bustle of customers arriving to watch their favourite movies yesterday.

General manager Hamish McGuire said the focus behind the Eid-themed attire was to promote and instill a sense of multiculturalism.

“This is the first time we are celebrating Eid; we have been in partnership with Eros International and this is the first time that our staff our going through this as it is in line with the release of the movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan,”he said.

“We are trying to be a community cinema; we want people to come in here and celebrate cultural events, religious events and community events, and we want them to be comfortable here.”

He said the response from the staff was positive and that he hoped the cinema would also acknowledge other religious and cultural festivals in Fiji.

Cinema staff Adi Kaveni Nadurutalo, 25, said she was more than happy to share the celebration with her fellow Muslim colleagues.
