Two hundred and forty-two new recruits from the Republic of the Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Territorial Force (TF) showed what they have learned after 11 weeks of training.

This was done during their open day at Forces Training Group (FTG) drill square in Nasinu yesterday. In this batch 195 were female recruits while 49 were males.

This is the first batch of three to undergo training this year.

Major Henry Macomber said during training, discipline and the time management was stressed.

“We had 200 female recruits in total but then five had to drop out because of some internal sickness. They were checked by the medical doctors and they were recommended to go home,” Major Macomber said.

“Today is a special day for the new recruits since they are able to show their families who are here in numbers what they have learned,” he said.

One of the recruits, Makarita Dicakau, 23, said the training had taught her how to look after herself.

“It has been tough as we were also training with the males, but it was a good experience which I will never forget,” Ms Dicakau said.

The group will be having their passing-out parade this Friday.
