The Alvish Naidu-captained Lautoka handed Ba their first loss in the Rewa Galaxy Youth League competition at Nadovu Park in Lautoka yesterday.

What happened: Lautoka started well and drew first blood in the 26th minute through Natabua High School student Sekove Finau.

The Wailotua, Wainibuka, Tailevu native used his height to good advantage winning aerial contests.

Halftime: Lautoka 1 – 0 Ba.

In the second spell Ba came out firing but the Lautoka defence stood tall denying.

Star turn:

Ba goalkeeper Atunaisa Naucikidi made some good saves.

Big play: Sekove Finau played a key game for the Blues.

Lautoka Youth coach Sunil Naidu said: “After today’s’ game I’m, very proud of the boys. They came out and proved Lautoka is one of the top. Hopefully now we’re in more of a chance to compete in our zonal cup. There was a lot of improvement compared to our first game, we are casually developing our squad is coming up. The boys are all psyched up for the second round now and we’re gunning for a win.”

Ba Youth coach Sunil Kumar said: “The boys played well but Lautoka was able to score, we also got few chances we could not score. Definitely we go back we will work on our finishing we lacked finishing and come next game we will be stronger.”
