Our Teachers Can Help: PM

Continuing on his trip to China, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, offered the possibility of placing Fijian teachers in the schools of one of China’s fastest growing provinces, Guangdong.
“We think that Fijian teachers can make an immense contribution to China’s effort to improve the English language skills of its people. And especially in the area of international trade, which is, of course, a priority for Guangdong,” Mr Bainimarama said in a meeting with Guangdong Province party secretary, Hu Chunhua last Saturday.
The provincial capital, Guangzhou, is the third largest city in China.
It is the transportation and communications hub of Southern China and internationally regarded as a centre of foreign trade.
During the meeting, Mr Bainimarama also raised the possibility of support from the province to develop Fiji’s sporting facilities.
“One area that we are looking to for assistance is to improve and expand the sporting facilities in our capital. And I ask you to consider this as a practical way in which our relationship can be strengthened,” he told Mr Hu.
Mr Hu replied that as a sister city to Suva, Guangdong would provide the necessary assistance to strengthen ties.
