Preparations for the 2015 Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North have started.

More than 10 contestants will compete for the crown.

Festival public relations officer Vincent Sahayam says the committee is working on schedule and at securing sponsors for the contestants.

The theme for the festival this year is ‘Building a better North”.

“We have started training the women who come all over Vanua Levu for the launch and we hope to confirm the sponsors for the contestants soon,” Mr Sahayam said.

“The contestants are doing their best and we hope to bring up new lights at the festival,” Mr Sahayam said.

Mr Sahayam is urging the Labasa stakeholders to lend their support to the festival committee.

The festival committee has been involved in projects like the Labasa Hospital Dialysis Centre.

The festival will be launched on Friday at the Labasa Civic Centre. The festival is scheduled on August 22 to 29 at Subrail Park in Labasa.
