Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama will be chief guest at the Republic of Fiji Navy 40th anniversary this Saturday.
Mr Bainimarama is expected back in the country on Friday after a state visit in China.
Established in 1975, the then Royal Fiji Navy was led by Scotsman, Captain Stanley Brown. It had employed close to 100 personnel who were straight out of the ranks of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces. Today there are at least 350 Fijians in the Navy.
Also expected at the anniversary is the grand-daughter of the late Captain Brown. The day-long event will also include the setting up of a Trust Fund by former Navy personnel living overseas.
