Shirley Park Case Moved To August 7

The case of the rezoning of Shirley Park in Lautoka was adjourned to another date at the High Court in Lautoka yesterday.
This is the case which the Reddy Group of Companies and Lautoka Ratepayers Association, represented by their lawyer Aman Singh had filed against the director of Town and Country Planning through the Attorney-General’s Office.
High Court Judge Suseela Sapuvida ruled that both lawyers to give their written submissions within seven days.
Mr Singh said the representative from the Attorney-General’s Office who is representing the director Town Country Planning for the Lautoka City Council had put in two separate applications to apply for the matter to be struck out.
“We had responded by way of written submissions and today (yesterday) the lawyers from the Attorney-General’s chambers withdrew their applications for the matter to be struck out and therefore, we proceeded to hearing of the objections,” Mr Singh said.
“After hearing objections from both sides the Judge has given us seven days to file a written submission.”
After hearing both sides Justice Sapuvida has ruled the matter to be adjourned to August 7 for a decision to be made.
Kumar hearing
Meanwhile, the Minister for Local Government, Housing, Environment, Infrastructure and Transport, Parveen Kumar’s court case has been adjourned to another court date.
Mr Kumar appeared at the Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday.
He appeared before Magistrate Sulakubou Raramasi.
Mr Kumar is facing one count of dangerous driving occasioning death after he allegedly hit a 48-year-old man at Teidamu near Lautoka in November 2013.
Magistrate Sulakubou Raramasi has ruled that the matter be adjourned to October 17.
