Special Children Celebrate With A-G

Students of the Special Schools in Lautoka along with other visiting schools celebrated Eid al-Fitr in a special way.
To make this event a special one, Acting Prime Minister and Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum met and celebrated the occasion at the Lautoka Sunshine Special School yesterday.
Along with the students, members from the Golden Age Home also took part in this celebration which was organised by Lautoka City Council and some members of the Muslim committee.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum was delighted to see the children and encouraged them to eat and enjoy the moment.
“Those of you who know about Eid, it’s all about having fun, having a good time, having lots of food and meeting up with people,” he said.
“It is about celebration, when you have been fasting for a month, you have an empty stomach you try and fill your soul with a lot of spirit. It’s sometimes when you are hungry or thirsty, that is when you start thinking about the more very basic things in life, otherwise you take it all for granted.
“The Fiji First Government is very much concerned about all Fijians, we don’t discriminate and that is why our Government is very keen to attend to such functions, to participate and to ensure that we get services out to all Fijians living anywhere in Fiji.”
Sunshine Special School president and chief executive officer of Lautoka City Council Jone Nakauvadra was proud to host this celebration.
“We are so proud that the school has been chosen to be the venue of this Eid Mela occasion.
“Eid itself is a time of refreshing the spiritual life and relationship with the almighty,” Mr Nakauvadra said.
Students from Lautoka Sunshine Special School, Lautoka School for Special, Lautoka Muslim Primary School, Vuda District Primary School, Vitogo District Primary School and Lautoka Delana Primary School were present at the celebrations.
