Computers For Ratu Latianara College

Students of Ratu Latianara College at Korovisilou, Serua, now join the list of Fijian students accessing computer education.
This follows the donation of 10 sets of desktop computers to the school last week by TOTAL (Fiji) Limited.
The computers were handed-over by company managing director, Martin McCarthy.
“TOTAL (Fiji) holds education very important, so with every opportunity where we are able to assist in uplifting the standard of education in schools, we ensure to provide that assistance in line with TOTAL’s sustainable development goals,” Mr McCarthy said.
He said a research conducted by one of the Fijian universities confirmed that learning tools made up the framework that enabled a person to understand and learn new and more complicated subjects.
“In the Ministry of Education’s efforts to lift current standards, formal education is the main focus as well as the promotion of more hands-on approach that will help the students in life. For this reason, Total (Fiji) decided that we can add value in this area by donating desktop computer sets to this school.
“Each set consists of a central processing unit, monitor, keyboard and mouse. The desktops belonged to TOTAL and instead or disposing them, staff initiative saw our IT department refurbishing the units to be used by the school. Ten units were refurbished to be donated to the school,” he said.
