The Vodafone Flying Fijians has been given a positive touch since Tabai Matson teamed up on Monday.

Head coach John McKee is grateful the input of the Crusaders and Maori All Blacks assistant coach, Tabai Matson so far in their preparations for the World Rugby Pacific Nations Cup against Samoa at Sacramento, USA at noon tomorrow.

“Tabai joined us on Monday and has very good knowledge of our players. I’ve brought him up to speed up in the implementation of our game plans,” McKee said.

“He brings a wealth of coaching

experience to our group and had good input to our planning and training sessions.”

McKee was impressed with the team’s training and said they were now focused on their ruck areas and defence too.

“I’m very pleased with the way the team has trained following the long journey.  The players are very focused and are looking forward to the game.

“We’re also working hard on our defence to counter the Samoans strong direct running game.

“In a test match, rugby players must be able to make good decisions under pressure for the team to succeed.

“With players coming together from different clubs and establishing some new combinations, this can take time. Each week I’m looking for improvement in our team’s performance with the aim of being thoroughly prepared for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.”
