The best idea my parents ever did was sending me to this school, said Shaneel Chand after the Monfort Boys Town’s cadet passing-out parade yesterday.

Mr Chand, 19, of Nakaulevu, Navua, said he enjoyed his study period at the Kalokolevu-based school outside Lami.

He is the third child in a family of five siblings and he is among six Indo-Fijian students who were part of the parade.

“I strongly feel that other schools should have cadet training programmes because this will help discipline students,” he said.

“I could not think of a better school to finish my studies. Being here in Monfort was the best choice my parents ever did.

“It’s not that other schools aren’t good but the criteria of study that I went through here is just right for me. After this cadet passing-out parade, I will apply to join the army and that is my aim for next year,” he said.
