A boost for Nadi District School at Narewa to help its students excel in their education.

Antipodeans Abroad, a leading Australia and New Zealand youth travel company specialising in volunteer work overseas, gap year programmes and educational travel, donated stationery and helped install 20 taps and hand basins for the school.

The school has a roll of 600.

The company donated $1000 for the installation of the taps and the hand basins.

Antipodeans Abroad Fiji country director Shabreen Nisha said volunteers stayed with local communities while in Fiji and help in projects that improved livelihoods.

“Placements include working or volunteering with local people in the areas of education, health care, social work, conservation and building,” Ms Nisha said.

“Our volunteers are placed at Nadi District School and Nadi Special School to exchange their experience, ideas and knowledge.

Miss Vida Heslip, a volunteer placed at the school said she was shocked to see one water tap for 600 students, so she arranged for the help and also arranged for stationery to be supplied from Australia.

The school head Meli Cabebula thanked Antipodeans Abroad for their support.
