NewWorld proudly opened its newest addition to the Newworld family yesterday in Savusavu.

NewWorld IGA Express Savusavu is the 19th supermarket for the chain and the very first Express store which the company hopes will be one of many more to come.

The store opened at 9.03am and NewWorld chairman Pravin Patel and his wife, Purnima Patel, had the honour to cut the ribbon.

NewWorld’s Express store format provides access for more customers to take advantage of their local and exclusive but in demand range.

Setting up an express store didn’t come without its challenges.

The company sees the next three to six months as a steep learning curve as they constantly review and adapt their range to best suit the needs of their customers in a reduced footprint.

Savusavu is 3200sqft air-conditioned store with 25 staff and currently offers around 2500 products for Savusavu shopping pleasure.

The store will also have an offering of beer, wine and spirits.

“We were delighted with the customer interest and enthusiasm for launch today with some customers choosing to line up for over an hour prior to launch,” the company said.
