Akariva Vuinakelo of Nailuva, Saivou in Ra, was awarded the Baton of Honour during the Monfort Boys Town’s cadet passing-out parade yesterday.

The 19-year-old is a final year Automotive Mechanical Studies student who will graduate at the end of the year.

Mr Vuinakelo has five siblings. He now wants to be a soldier because of the discipline being taught during the cadet drills in the school.

“I am happy for my achievement. I never thought of joining the army, but after this passing-out parade, I will definitely join the army,” he said.

“This is one of the best memories that I will take with me after a memorable three years at school.

“The discipline taught to us during the cadet drills was another best way to get students disciplined,” he said.
