Moral decay

Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa, NASINU

We are told that because of the moral decay in our nation, the Ministry of Education is looking at introducing extracurricular activities in schools to create awareness on rape and other immoral acts.

It is sad that even though our Constitution declares Fiji as a secular state, the majority are Christians who should be walking the talk morally.

The biggest irony among Christians is that on one hand, they will unite, walk the streets, raise banners condemning rape and other immoral acts, but on the other, teach and preach that God’s moral law, the Ten Commandments is only for the Jews or has been nailed to the cross and no longer binding on Christians today.

We are all fallen beings with a tendency towards evil and the only power that could transform and empower us into His holy character is the power of the Creator through Christ.

Educating people on morality is worthless if God is out of the picture.
