Reebok Shop N Save Lautoka wants to win the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants (B.O.G) which starts on Friday at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori.

The Blues is pooled with Tailevu-Naitasiri, Nadi and Suva. And it has been 30 years since Lautoka last won the B.O.G in 1985.

Lautoka Football Association vice-president Abdul Kadar said it has been a long time coming for Lautoka.

He said they had a tough pool, but they would try their best to make it to the finals.

“It has been a long time since we last wont the B.O.G and we’ve been the runners up,” Kadar said.

“So this year we are hoping and we will be trying to make a change because to be honest it has been a long time coming and we just need to prepare well.

“Our pool is the pool of death, we have Rewa Galaxy Premier League champion Nadi with Suva being runners up, so that will be no doubt be tough games for us.

“They have national Under-23 national reps which will be an uphill battle for us.

“As for Tailevu-Naitasiri, we still look at them as equal opponents just like any other team.

“I think in recent tournaments it is evident that when you underestimate any team, you are likely to set yourself up for failure, and that is not what we want,” he said.

Tailevu-Naitasiri and Lautoka will kick off the INNK Mobile Battle of the Giants at 1pm.

Other matches:

3pm Suva-Nadi; 5.30 Labasa-Nadroga; 7.30 Rewa-Ba.
