Jedi’s Stationery Suva and defending champions Rewa are keen to defend their turf ahead of the INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants (B.O.G) tournament.

They want to retain the title in the Southern Division as they wrapped up their preparations yesterday with a friendly match at the Fiji FA Academy ground in Suva.

Rewa coach Marika Rodu said, “We have been preparing well for the last few weeks and we will go out in full force to win”.

“We will be in full strength with the inclusion of our Vodafone Fijian Under-23 players Iosefo Verevou and Setareki Hughes.

“We want to retain our title and we will do our best to win at home.”

The side is also positive that their key players, Tevita Waranivalu and Savenaca Nakalevu will recover from their injuries to feature in the tournament.

“Waranivalu is nursing a foot injury while Nakalevu is sick,” Rodu said.

Rewa plays Ba in their first Pool B match on Friday at 7.30pm.  Suva, on the other hand, is also confident of winning.

Their president Mahen Prasad said they would field their top players.

“This tournament is important because we are starting our Oceania Football Confederation Champions League preparation,” he said.

“The Champions League is next year, but we want to start our preparations early,” Prasad said.

The Rewa Galaxy Premier League runner-up faces the league winner Nadi in their first game at 3pm on Friday.

“We are aware of Nadi’s status and we are confident about our chances,” Prasad said.

Suva will be fielding experienced players likes Napolioni Qasevakatini, Rusiate Matererega, Maciu Dunadamu, Jale Dreloa and Kolinio Sivoki who are the stars for the U20 and U23 sides in the FIFA U20 World Cup and Pacific Games.

Rewa is pooled with Ba, Nadroga and Labasa in Pool A while Suva is in Pool B with Jack’s Nadi, Reebok/Shop N Save Lautoka and Tailevu-Naitasiri.
