Committee Plans Walkway To Hospital

The people of the North, especially those living in Labasa, will soon walk along a footpath from Labasa Town to the Labasa Hospital when seeking medical treatment.
The plan to build the footpath was revealed last Friday night during the launching of the 2015 Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North at the Labasa Civic Centre. The footpath is part of the many projects planned by the festival committee to be funded through proceeds from the week-long fiesta.
The plan for the projects was announced by Vodafone Fiji’s head of commerce, Shailendra Prasad.
He said this would allow a safe walkway for thousands of people from town to the hospital and back. “This will be a relief to many who cannot afford to travel by taxi to the hospital and back and could also provide people the opportunity to take a morning and or afternoon walk,” he said.
“One of the fundamentals of Vodafone’s way of doing business is that we strongly believe in making a difference in the lives of people and the community in which we operate in.”
The festival is schedule for August 22 to 29 at Subrail Park, Labasa.
