All Black legend Sir John Kirwan

A fundraising event for a major Gala Dinner in September will be launched when the Life Cinema Complex at Martintar officially opens on Thursday.

The opening night will feature the premier of the action-packed film Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

September’s Gala Dinner is for the Fiji Alliance for Mental Health. The Alliance’s aim is to bring about a mentally healthy Fiji through a combination of strategic education, advocacy, research, awareness raising and policy development.

The Women of the West (WOW) Business Networking Group are getting behind the Fiji Alliance for Mental Health as the charity of choice.

It was formed in April 2014 with the purpose of benefiting the community through ideas, talents and business knowledge that are shared by like-minded women.

Night with Sir John Kirwan

Former All Black great Sir John Kirwan will be chief guest at September’s Gala Dinner.

Sir John, who last month resigned as Auckland Blues coach, has expressed his support for the event.

Sir John is the 10th inductee into the All Blacks Hall of Fame. He is also New Zealand’s Mental Health Ambassador. In recent times, Sir John has openly spoken of his battle with depression and is actively involved in mental health and depression awareness campaigns in New Zealand.

The Gala Dinner has been promoted as “An Evening with Sir John Kirwan.”

It is an event scheduled for September 5 this year at the Sheraton Fiji Golden Ballroom.
