Five Ba children have been left without a father, after an accident at the Rarawai Mill, took the life of 44-year Senimoli Keni.

Eldest daughter, Savaira Momoyalewa was heartbroken after Sunday’s tragic loss, especially after their mother had moved out of the house and left them with their father.

Mr Keni departed for work at the Fiji Sugar Corporation Rarawai mill in Ba on Sunday morning and never returned.

“The whole family is still caught in surprise to lose him. As the head of family we needed him the most since our mum moved out and never returned.”

The late Mr Keni allegedly died after he was trapped by in a conveyor belt that was transporting bagasse.

FSC executive chairman Abdul Khan led a delegation to pay their condolences at the family home and promise support yesterday.

“An investigation between Police, Department of Labour and FSC, is ongoing so after that we can get a better understanding of what transpired,” he said.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed the incident happened around 9.30am.

Mr Keni was rushed to the Ba Mission Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
